1,000 Books Before Kindergarten is a fun and interactive way to help prepare your child for Kindergarten. For every early learning activity, your child can color in a shell on the activity log. An early learning activity can be reading and/or sharing a book, playing peek-a-boo, singing “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star,” or participating in library events like storytime.
For every hundredth milestone, your child will earn a sticker. To keep track of your child's progress, place the sticker on the designated square on the certificate.
Participating is easy:

Children who are read to from birth have a larger vocabulary and have a higher success rate of being lifelong readers and learners. Not sure how to begin? Check out these suggestions.
Not sure where to start? Consider checking out one or more of these titles from MCPL's collection. If you need help or more book suggestions, just contact an MCPL librarian.
Download and print your activity log in English (PDF) or Spanish (PDF). Every time you complete an early learning activity, your child can color in a shell!
